Amid the excitement of a new academic year, AHB School held the Opening Ceremony for the 2026-2027 academic year, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the AHB community. The ceremony brought students, parents, and teachers together to share heartfelt wishes, a positive learning spirit, and aspirations for the journey ahead.

Heartfelt Wishes to Inspire a New Academic Year
One of the highlights of the AHB Opening Ceremony 2026-2027 was a special photobooth where parents and teachers wrote personal messages and wishes for the students. Little by little, the space was filled with handwritten notes, creating a colourful collection of hopes and encouragement for the new academic year.
Parents wished for their children to stay happy and confident, make new friends, and enjoy every day at school. Teachers encouraged students to explore bravely, try new things, and step beyond their comfort zones.
Ms. Anne Hill, Founder and School Mentor, shared a meaningful message with the students: “Always keep your curiosity, joy of learning, and confidence as you move forward!” This reflects the spirit AHB seeks to nurture in every student: asking questions, exploring independently, and finding joy in the learning process.

Adding to the encouragement, Mr. Mortimer John Bernard Edward, Head of School and Cambridge Program at AHB, also shared his wishes with all students: “Wishing all our students a very successful academic year! Keep learning, keep moving forward, and remember that we can always do better”.
These heartfelt messages also reflected the strong partnership between families and AHB throughout each student’s learning journey. Behind every learning goal are the encouragement of parents, the guidance of teachers, and an AHB community committed to supporting every step of students’ growth.

Growing in Confidence Through Shared Experiences
The AHB Opening Ceremony 2026-2027 was also a special occasion to welcome AHB’s newest members, including Preschool and Grade 1 students, into the AHB community. With a mix of excitement and a little nervousness, the young students made their first appearance at the opening ceremony and received warm applause from teachers, older students, and their families. It was a meaningful beginning to a new chapter filled with opportunities to discover and learn.
Kindergarten students made their debut to the AHB community
The ceremony became even more lively with performances prepared and presented by AHB students. Clear young voices, energetic dance moves, and well-coordinated performances brought a joyful atmosphere to the celebration.
The performance by the Sunflower class brought a particularly heartwarming touch to the stage. Some movements were still a little hesitant, and there were moments when the children missed a beat, but their natural and genuine reactions brought smiles, laughter, and warm applause from the AHB community.

Behind every moment on stage was a process of practising together, listening to feedback, and encouraging one another. For AHB students, activities like these provide opportunities to build confidence, collaboration skills, and a sense of responsibility towards their team.
With every opportunity to step forward and try, students learn to listen to others, respect differences, and persevere with what they set out to achieve. In this way, AHB’s core values are naturally nurtured through everyday school life, through what students do, experience, and accomplish together.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony 2026-2027, Mr. Mortimer John Bernard Edward highlighted an important message for the new academic year: “We can always improve further!” He shared that at every age, there is always something new to learn and new potential to develop. With this mindset, Respect, Modesty, Integrity, and Heart continue to serve as important guiding values in everyday school life at AHB.

The determination to embrace the new academic year was also reflected in a speech delivered by a representative of the Primary students. The students set three goals for themselves: Confidence – Creativity – Responsibility.
Confidence means being willing to speak up, try new things, and express their ideas. Creativity means asking questions, exploring, and finding different ways to approach challenges. Responsibility means following through commitments and caring for themselves and the people around them.
As the school bell rang to mark the official start of the 2026-2027 academic year, a new chapter began for every AHB student. Ahead lies in new lessons, new challenges, and countless opportunities for students to discover their strengths and grow through experience.
